Every change to the state facts on this site is logged here with what changed in each state, and what we checked and found unchanged. When an update is driven by an official notice or fee schedule, that document is listed in the sources on the state's guide.
Recheck progress: 2 of 51 jurisdictions have been checked line by line against their official fee schedule (Delaware, Louisiana). The rest show "Compiled October 2026" on their guide until their recheck is done.
Policies and tools
Added a disclaimer, cookie policy, copyright and DMCA page and accessibility statement. The LLC lookup and claim-a-name guides gained a name check, and names passed from the homepage now run the check automatically on the state guide.

Every state guide gained three hand-written sections on how that state organizes its records, its less obvious rules, and a worked example, plus a neighbor comparison table and a state-specific FAQ.

New guides for vetting a business
Added a business verification checklist, a UCC lien search guide, a business entity types comparison and three glossary terms (DBA, UCC filing, articles of incorporation). State guides gained a table of contents.

- Added the free UCC search in bizfile Online.
- Florida
- Added that UCC liens are kept by the Florida Secured Transaction Registry, not Sunbiz.

Louisiana fee increase and Texas SOSPortal
Applied the Louisiana fee increase that took effect October 1 and replaced Texas SOSDirect references with SOSPortal.

- LLC formation is now $125 (was $100) and the annual report is $35 (was $30), effective October 1, 2026 under Act 921. Card payments add a $5 convenience fee. Checked against the Secretary of State fee schedule PDF.
- Texas
- SOSPortal replaced SOSDirect and SOSUpload on September 29, 2026 for filing, ordering and searching. Search tips, bulk data notes and sources now point to it. The free Comptroller search remains the default link.
Unchanged: Texas fees and the May 15 franchise tax deadline. No other state changed in this update.
Delaware fee schedule check
Checked Delaware against the Division of Corporations fee schedule revised August 1, 2026.

- Confirmed $110 LLC formation and $75 name reservation for 120 days. Added record search ($50), good standing ($50 short form, $175 long form), copy, expedite and revival fees.
Unchanged: The $300 annual LLC tax and June 1 due date.
Nevada, Tennessee and Alaska
Updated search links for two states that replaced their systems and added an Alaska filing step.

Launch
Published guides for all 50 states and DC, the fee directory, name reservation table, EIN lookup, bulk data guide and 14 glossary terms.

Official datasets behind live results
Six states publish their full business registry as open data. State pages for these states query the dataset live; other states link to their official search, and can show a live match through our registry data provider when that service is turned on.
